💥 Issue #53: Professional Drive Or Burnout?
Richard Mancuso shares about his company Flourish and how personal drive can become too much of a good thing
💬 Welcome to issue #53 of Between the Lines
Burnout has become an all-too-popular experience and phrase for many employees during the past few years. Google search data showed a 221% spike in searches for “signs of burnout” during last winter, and a recent Indeed survey showed that over 52% of people claim to be experiencing burnout. Surveys and Google search data may be imperfect methods, but the tagline is clear: burnout is a problem.
Richard Mancuso shares why it’s still possible to get burned out even if you love your job — and how to start feeling like yourself again. They’re also sharing a 10% discount for their flagship, evidence-based program exclusive to BTL readers — read more below!👇

When you think of someone who’s burned out, you might picture a person who’s overworked and miserable in their job, or hating their toxic work environment.
But what if you’re feeling burned out and you love your job? It may seem counterintuitive, but those two things can coexist — and it can be a particularly confusing and unsettling experience.
If you’re burned out solely because of a job that makes you unhappy and drained, the solution may be as simple as working less or moving on to another position. When you love your work, however, it can be harder to decipher why you’re feeling exhausted, burned out, and barely able to hold it together.
With some introspection and planning, it’s possible to take back control and start feeling more energized and rested. Here’s why it’s still possible to get burned out even if you love your job — and how to start feeling like yourself again.👇
🚨Claremonster Call-Out: Nicholas D’Andre
Nicholas D’Andre is a PO graduate and the CEO and co-founder of GridMatrix - a data infrastructure/analytics company that builds software to leverage cities’ existing traffic infrastructure in order to reduce congestion, emissions, and accidents. Before founding GridMatrix in 2020, Nicholas spent time at McKinsey, Apple, Amazon, and Google while earning his MBA at Yale.
This past April, GridMatrix raised a $3.5M Seed Round, led by 8VC and Cota Capital, and they participated as a member of Amazon’s GovTechStart Accelerator. Recently, the company announced that it partnered with Port Authority to study congestion along the Washington Bridge - the world’s busiest bridge.
Transportation planners and traffic engineers from the Port Authority are now using GridMatrix’s cloud-based software platform to study vehicular and pedestrian traffic congestion, quantify signal light performance, and proactively identify hazardous road conditions at deployment locations. Nicholas had the following to say in their press release:
It's a privilege to partner with the Port Authority in pursuit of its broader sustainability goals. Implementing GridMatrix's software on the region's most critical transportation infrastructure is a step toward those goals - both in America's largest city and one of its coastal population centers most vulnerable to climate change.
