The Xmas wishlist you didn't know you had, Claremont's 30 under 30, and more Claremonsters
💬 Welcome to issue #24 of Between the Lines
If you take Issue #24, divide it by 2, and then add 4 you get…16 days until Xmas. Coincidence? Buddy doesn’t think so. In light of this unlikely coincidence, we took it upon ourselves to give you the Xmas wish list you didn’t know you had.
Check out some of the Claremont-founded companies who are helping with your holiday shopping this year, read about the Claremont alumni who made Forbes 30 under 30, and get your Thursday dose of Claremont Twitter and job postings.

📊 6th Street Stats: Your Claremont Christmas Wish List
Author: Josh Tatum
Okay, so you missed the Black Friday deals, the Cyber Monday deals, and all the other deals out there leading up to the holidays. On top of that, you really haven’t given your gifts this year much thought. Even worse, it’s hardly realistic that you can even afford to buy coal for your haters since it’s at record highs.
Don’t count yourself out just yet. The good news — there is still time (t-minus 16 days until the big day). The better news — once again, Claremont has your back.
Since we figured we weren’t the only ones that had some Xmas shopping left, we compiled a Claremont Christmas Wish List with some of Claremont’s hottest gifts this year. These Claremont-founded companies have what you need to close out your holiday shopping. Take a peek, finish off that annoying holiday To-Do list you’ve been procrastinating on, and maybe even snag something for yourself. After all, it’s been a long year!
🚨Claremonster Call-Out: Forbes 30 Under 30
While we all know the most impressive award out there is to be awarded the distinction of a Between the Lines Claremonster, Forbes 30 Under 30 ain’t too shabby. 😉 Congratulations to these amazing Claremont alumni who recently took home some hardware.
Food & Drink: Mir Cruz
Along with co-founder Astrid Schanz-Garbassi, Miriam Cruz launched Agni in September 2019 to create foods that support women's health needs — from better periods and fertility to postpartum and menopause support. Working with a team of medical advisors and chefs, Agni currently sells cookies, teas and seasonings online to more than 10,000 customers.
Marketing & Advertising: Laurel Schwartz
Laurel Schwartz is brand director of global not-for-profit organization Crisis Text Line, which provides free, 24/7 mental health support via text message. Schwartz led paid strategy for a campaign that provided 2,500 frontline workers with free mental health support during the pandemic.
Venture Capital: Kevin Lynch
Kevin Lynch is a founding investor at MGV, the firm he joined in 2017 after starting his career at Tuesday Capital (FKA as Crunchfund, and, you guessed it - a Claremont-founded VC firm). Lynch's focus areas include mental health, where he invested in Modern Health, and fintech, where he's backed companies like ObserveAI and Origin.
🤝 Pardon the Introduction: Davis Rao
Davis Rao married into the Claremont fam (his better half, Mir, just got that sweet Forbes 30u30 shout-out above) and is a former VC and startup operator turned software engineer. After consulting with and investing in growth-stage startups early in his career, he most recently spent 2 years building a plastic-free grocery leader Zero Grocery from $0 to $6M run-rate revenue alongside Claremont alumni Max Knowles and Chase Eller. Davis made the transition to engineering via Rithm and is now wrapping up an internship. He is actively seeking full-time, full-stack roles that allow him to work remotely, apply his skills, and continue to learn from a team of engineers. If you want to learn more or think Davis could be a fit with your team, here's a link to his site (including a link to portfolio, resume, and contact info) and Github.
💼 Who’s Hiring?:
Convergent Research is bringing together top talent from academia, industry, and startups to build a new model for innovative R&D. Instead of giant government organizations slowly figuring out who gets money, what if you had a small team of wizards writing $50MM checks to spin up 5-year efforts on engineering-heavy science challenges? Adam Marblestone and Anastasia Gamick are friends of Claremont who are having a huge impact on science and are looking for some earlier-career people with some hustle to join them:
Sparrow Pharmaceuticals, founded by David Katz, is a biopharmaceutical company determined to discover, develop, and deliver innovative therapies that target toxic cortisol levels and unlock the potential of corticosteroid medicines such as prednisone. They are sparing patients the ravages of steroids, and are coming off of a fresh $50M Series A raise earlier this year.
